7月15日，来自美国的代表团到访北京J9九游会平台娱乐代理官方网站九游会平台和工程与技术J9九游会🧎🏻‍♀️📕，与同学们进行了为期一周的学术交流与文化探讨🧖🏼。期间共举办了六场讲座👍，内容涵盖了经济👩🏽‍🍳、文化、医疗💜、环境、人际关系等多个层面👨‍👨‍👧‍👧👩🏽‍🍼，可谓面面俱到🧙🏻，非常丰富。充满美式幽默与风趣故事的讲座受到了广大师生的好评，其详细又生动的内容也让听众告别一知半解的状态，真正走进了美国的现代生活。以下将系统介绍这六场讲座：

第一场讲座：《交流技巧》

主讲人：Will Kassner

为何要造桥？何谓聆听者？围绕着这两个问题，Mr. Kassner把听众引向他的话题——“交流技巧”🤖。 讲座中👉🏻，他陈述了当今社会对交流的漠视和科技发展带来的弊端𓀂。通过介绍聆听者应有的品质和必要技巧，他希望同学们能在以后的交际中放下手中的高科技产品🤏🏻，真诚自然地与人交流🚁。

第二场讲座🙋🏿‍♀️：《美国商业文化》

主讲人🧜🏼‍♂️：Ms. Christie Ellzey

Ms. Christie Ellzey从个人主义⛰、有利的经济环境、个人价值观和道德规范方面详细介绍美国商业的方方面面。讲座中🤶，其他团队成员一直积极配合演讲人，必要时会起身做示范。同学们从讲座中学到了美国商业文化方面的知识，学到了有用的求职技巧，更从整个团队的通力合作中学到了团队精神。

第三场讲座：美国医疗保健和保健系统

主讲人：Ms. Amber Lee

Ms.Amber Lee认为🙋🏿，每一个人类都应该获得国家的医疗福利。她在讲座中介绍美国的医疗保险和医疗补助计划，并从多方面深入分析美国的保健系统。同时她建议医学专业的学生，应多去医院或诊所当志愿者以积累经验。美国代表团队长表示希望美国的医疗保健体系对中国的医疗改革能起到借鉴作用。

第四场讲座:环境及可持续型

主讲人：Mr.Kevin Nowlin

Mr. Kevin Nowlin以美国的文化与贸易为背景向同学们介绍了可持续发展的重要性🫷。他首先提及了可持续型概念的由来并谈到它的定义是➞🥒：能满足当代人的需要，又不对后代人满足其需要的能力构成危害的发Mr.Kevin Nowlin还表示在商业世界中要做到三点。第一，保护商业世界，降低风险⏮；第二🧙🏼‍♀️，做好经营🎧🤦🏻‍♂️，减少支出👩🏿‍🦱；第三，促进发展，推陈出新👨🏿‍🦰。

第五场讲座：解读领袖能力

主讲人：Mr.William Kassner

Mr. Kassner认为🧖‍♂️，领袖就好比清晰的地图，能够引导迷失的人们找到方向。一个优秀的领袖在一个团队里起着着中流砥柱的作用⏸，而领袖能力则是不可忽视的重要因素。他介绍了三种类型的领袖技巧，并通过与团员间默契的活动示范强调信任自己的队友是当一名优秀的领袖的重要因素。

第六场讲座：美国文化和节日

主讲人：Mr. Barrett Bowden

讲座中，Mr.Barrett Bowden用地图的形式给同学们讲述了美国的地理位置以及相关的人口分布情况，从而引出美国各个地区的经济水平和宗教信仰情况𓀐。在谈及美国人日常生活与娱乐时，他详细地介绍了不同的美国节日𓀏，令同学们大开眼界🏦。

如果说每天上午是美国文化在中国的交流🧜🏽‍♂️，那么夜晚于会同村老屋举行的活动无疑将中国文化推为了主角。包饺子、剪纸画等妙趣横生的活动让美国代表团在实践中切身体会到了中国文化的独特魅力。

为期一周的交流活动虽然短暂，但文化的价值与共筑的友谊不可估量。在北师大珠海分校这座美丽的桥梁上，两国文化的美丽碰撞与融合将永远篆刻在同学们的心中🫶🏼。

American Delegation Visits BNUZ for Cultural Exchange

On 15th, July, an American delegation visited BNUZ and spent one week giving lectures and holding exchange activities with the School of Foreign Language and the School of Engineering. They altogether gave six lectures on a wide range of topics, including economy, culture, health care, environment and communication skills. The American lecturers’ humorous style and funny stories attracted large audiences and the specific and vivid content shed lights on a real American modern life. The six lectures were as follows.

Lecture 1: Communication Skills

Speaker: Mr. Will Kassner

Why do we build bridges? How to be a good listener? Revolving around the two questions, Mr. Will Kassner introduced his topic communication skills. He pointed out that nowadays people lead such a fast-paced life that they almost forgot the importance of communication and the widespread use of high-tech products, such as cell phones and I-PAD, further impedes communication. He then gave a number of suggestions as to how to be a good communicator, a good listener in particular.

Lecture 2: American Business Culture

Speaker: Ms. Christie Ellzey

Ms. Christie Ellzey elaborated on American business in the aspects of individualism, favorable economic environment, personal values, norms and ethics. Regarding personal values, she mentioned those valuable qualities, such as assertiveness, dedication and confidence. When she talked about norms, she pointed out the differences in communication style between Americans and peoples from other countries. For example, “yes” means “I am listening” in some other countries while in America it means, “I agree”. After she informed students of the characteristics of a U.S. resume, she gave some tips on resume writing and obtaining a job with an U.S. business or company. Specifically, she advised students to use action words and phrases when describing experience rather than passive verbs. Then she told students the etiquette for business lunches and dinners.

Lecture 3👨‍👦‍👦：U.S. Healthcare and Healthcare Systems

Speaker:Ms.Amber Lee

Ms. Lee first of all briefed on how U.S. Healthcare Systems was developed from 1965. She then elaborated on Medicare and Medicaid in the United States, including its eligibility and benefits. Apart from introducing some old practices, she mentioned eligibility expansion of medicare and some reforms of Healthcare System, as indicated in the Affordable Care Act, especially Individual Mandates and Employer Mandates. She also analyzed the Healthcare Systems in terms of primary care, secondary care, tertiary care, quaternary care, the health care team and medical education. At last, Ms. Lee suggested that medical students should volunteer at a clinic or hospital so as to acquire practical experience.

Lecture 4：Sustainability in American Business and Culture

Speaker: Mr. Kevin Nowlin

Mr. Kevin Nowlin pointed out that sustainability originated around a growing awareness in the 1980s that businesses had to find ways to grow their economies without destroying the environment or sacrificing the well-being of future generations. Sustainability could be defined as ‘meeting the current generations’ needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.’ Since 1980s, sustainability has become a ‘buzzword’ for an array of social and environmental causes, and in the business world it denotes a powerful and defining idea: a sustainable corporation is one that creates profit for its shareholders while protecting the environment and improving the lives of those with whom it interacts. Mr. Kevin Nowlin recommended three ways to enhance economy: protecting the business and reducing the risk; running the business and cutting the cost; and innovating the business and being productive.

Lecture 5：Understanding Life and Leadership

Speaker: Mr. Will Kassner

Mr. Kassner first of all raised a question, “What will you do if you get lost?” He told the students that a leader was just like a map, which could lead lost people to the right direction. Not only did a leader played a significant role in a team, but also leadership contributed a lot to teamwork. He pointed out 13 qualities for leadership: openness, supportiveness, motivation, empowerment, honesty, ability to delegate, communication, humor, confidence, commitment, positive attitude, creativity, intuition, ability to inspire and vision. When he accounted for how to be motivated, he gave 5 tips. First, you need to encourage your team numbers have positive attitudes; second, communicate well with others; third, set reachable goals; fourth, give frequent feedback; fifth, reward people with good jobs. To illustrate empowerment, he played a game with his team, which showed the significance of trust between team numbers. Mr. Kassner told us that an outstanding leader should trust his team numbers at any time.

Lecture 6: American Culture

Speaker: Mr. Barrett Bowden

Mr. Barrett Bowden illustrated different geographic locations in the U.S. as well as their population by using a map. The distribution of population determines the region''s economic development. Densely populated and most economically developed areas are usually close to the coast, such as New York and Boston. Spiritual power helps America to promote the development of the country. Almost 70% of the Americans have their own religions. Its level of the education is one of the highest in the world, due to its quality and pre-school education. He also mentioned that music, movies, sports and food play an important role in their daily life. Mixing the work and entertainment together can reduce the pressure. Mr. Barrett Bowden also introduced American holidays, their purposes and the way to celebrate them.

If the daytime was for American culture, then Chinese culture was absolutely the leading role at night. Every evening, the students invited the delegation to experience Chinese culture in an ancient house of Huitong Village. By making dumpling, cutting paper and so on, the delegation totally exposed themselves to the fascination of Chinese culture.

One week was short, but the exchanges of culture and the friendship between the delegation and the students would always be valuable and unforgettable.
