Zhou Shifan, professor from Xi’an International Studies University and president of Xi’an Foreign Languages Audio-visual Press’, was invited to give a speech on “Striving for Success” for freshmen on November 17th.

Professor Zhou shared experiences of his life. Although all roads lead to Rome, we should know the distance of our way and choose the most suitable path for our own. He summarized the road to success from five aspects: solid foundation, work hard, be ambitious, broadened horizon and welcome brilliant achievements.

Professor Zhou believed learning was the foundation and the specialized knowledge will naturally lead to a future success. Working hard was the key. Professor Zhou has engaged in education career for almost 50 years. His love and devoted spirit to the teaching has earned students and parents’ respect. Being ambitious and having a broadened sight are the valid approaches without which we can’t travel further and aim higher. Students of Foreign Language are especially required to have an international vision and take experiences seriously. Glory came naturally if you follow the former 4 steps. Professor Zhou always put his teaching stuff in the first place and set a good example for the students.

Students benefited a lot from his excellent and versatile speech. Freshmen learned more about career planning and behaviors.
