On October 22nd, the English Corner was held at 6 p.m. on the first floor in the Library. Mr. Martin Stannard, Dr. Phillip Stevenson, Mr. David Riddiford, Dr. Aviva Shimelman, Mr. Christopher Dockstader and Ms. Linda Visner attended the English Corner this week.
Mr. Christopher Dockstader shared his own experiences of learning various languages with the students around him. He believed he had countless time to learn, because that was one of his interests and he never felt bored. For getting used to the local life, he said he was glad to learn local cultures.
At the same time, Dr. Aviva Shimelman introduced various countries and their languages to the students. She thought that pronunciation is the first brick of one’s “Language Tower” as well as the most important condition of learning languages. Besides, she also taught the way of pronouncing, and some students even shared their experiences of learning foreign languages with others.
In Ms. Linda Visner’s opinion, undergraduates should make good use of their college life to enrich their knowledge and capability. In the meanwhile, Ms. Linda Visner also shared the characteristics of vampires and some fun stories with the students.
